Our engines have a lot of intricate details like sanding lines, air hoses, and MU hoses that can get caught in the foam. The weight of the engines cause them to sink down in the foam, and when you pull them out, those intricate details can snag on the foam and break off.
Place these grooved wood bases in your tray right on top of the bottom piece of foam to hold your engines more securely, and protect all those intricate details. If you have a lot of brass engines, these bases are a must!
This set of 3 is cut from 3/8" thick MDF (medium density fiberboard). I use these MDF bases in my own Locomotive Haulers because I'm a stickler for details. A set will add about 4 pounds to your Hauler and well worth the cost. They will work for 2 rail and 3 rail.
